Our TCF Worship Team Vision

To invite and lead the gathered church body in genuine and open expression of our devotion to our living God, leaving space for all present, especially the Holy Spirit, to respond and contribute freely.

What's a worship team?

When most people think of a contemporary worship team, the first image that comes to mind is often "the band." Sure, we are musicians and sound engineers and seek to do the music with state-of-the-art excellence, but we are far more.

Deuteronomy 10:8 describes Israel's equivalent of a worship team, the tribe of Levi: "At that time, the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name, as they still do today."

From this scripture, we can derive four basic components of being on the worship team:

1. Being set apart

We consider being on the worship team as a calling from God, affirmed by His people. This calling is not simply about musical talent, but about one's identity as a worshiper of God. While all of God's people are called to be worshipers, we believe there are some who are called to be worship leaders. It is our desire to be worshipers     and instigators of worship wherever we go. (At least on our better days!)

2. Carrying the very presence of God (as represented by the Ark of the Covenant)

Because of the holy nature of this calling, as a worship team we hold each other to high spiritual standards. These standards are upheld under God's grace, in the context of a shared lifelong rhythm of confession and forgiveness.

3. Standing before the Lord and ministering to Him

When on the band platform, we play our music first and foremost for the audience of God. It is the Holy Spirit that moves and touches our hearts during these musical offerings, regardless of how well we play.

4. Pronouncing blessings in His name to the church body

We take seriously our responsibility to serve the Tidal Creek church body by blessing them through our playing, singing, and speaking. This is both an honored privilege and great fun!

Joining the TCF Worship Team

TCF Worship Team - Becoming a member

If you believe God might be calling you to be a part of this worship team, we would love to talk with you. In figuring out if there is a place for you on the worship team, we'd like to get to know you know and you to know us.

Get to know us - While there is no specific time period that you need to attend the church before joining the worship team, our hope is that you will have spent enough time with us to consider making Tidal Creek Fellowship your home church. You should already be regularly attending our Sunday morning worship.

Getting to know you - It takes time to get to know people. Whatever you can do to be around us and let yourself be known will really help us. One way might be to start out helping with set up or tear down of the sound equipment. Another great way to let us get to know you is by attending a small group; this would be a great way to get connected within the church community and to grow in a group setting.

Musical Ability - We also need to see if your musical ability is at a level where you can pick up a chord chart and play or sing after little or no rehearsal, which isn't an uncommon occurrence on a Sunday service. As much as we are looking for musical competence, we are also looking for someone who is able to follow the direction of the worship leader, play within a band (for band members), retain memory of arrangements, and also play or sing as led in the moment by the Holy Spirit.

TCF Worship Team - Membership covenant

Worship team membership it is about offering all that we are in order to bless God and others. This requires accountability and commitment to excellence.

Sunday morning worship attendance - A very important outward expression of our love for and commitment to the church body is participation in corporate worship opportunities.

TCF Worship Team members agree to regularly attend Sunday morning worship services - "on-duty" or "off-duty."

Weekly rehearsals - Even though the worship experience itself is not all about musical ability or performing, it is a vital part of what we contribute to the corporate worship service. Practicing together on a regular basis enables us to become familiar with one another's abilities and musical styles so that we can "flow" together as a team. Equally as important, our time together provides opportunity for us to share and pray together so that we can be a strong spiritual team, a family.

TCF Worship Team members agree to regularly attend weekly rehearsals and/or team meetings.
