TCF story

In the spring of 2000, while serving as Associate Pastor of The Baptist Church of Beaufort, David Holland felt God was leading him to start a unique kind of church: one that would seek to reach and welcome people disconnected from church. In the spring & summer of 2001, Pastor David Holland shared his vision with the leadership and people of The Baptist Church of Beaufort and asked for their support. Two churches that emerged very quickly with generous spiritual and financial support were The Baptist Church of Beaufort and First Baptist Church of Greenville.
On the summer night of August 23, 2001, at the home of Tim and Pam Rentz, David shared his vision for a new church on Lady's Island and asked eight families to consider joining him in this endeavor. One week later, Tidal Creek Fellowship had been born as a group of seven families formed a core group that would meet weekly on Thursday nights, for prayer, Bible study, and planning. This continued until the church held its Grand Opening at Coosa Elementary School on Sunday, September 22nd, 2002. In the early days Tidal Creek averaged about 170 in attendance and that number has increased steadily through the past four years. In the fall of 2005 the leadership saw the need to provide two worship opportunities to meet the growing demand for space and to accommodate future growth. We are most proud of how God has used Tidal Creek in the process of "changing lives." "Changed Lives" are our goal as a church and this is something that God alone can do!

Some of the hallmarks of Tidal Creek are: its casual dress and welcoming, expectant atmosphere; relevant and practical messages that are Bible-based; the upbeat and inspiring music led by the Tidal Creek Praise Band; great learning opportunities for children including a safe and secure nursery; HOME Groups that connect people at a deeper level; Team Ministry that provides everyone with an opportunity to serve; and a focus on Spiritual Disciplines that help us grow in fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

OUR FIRST BUILDING

In June of 2005 Tidal Creek acquired 20 acres of land on Brickyard Point Road. During the Spring of 2006 (Feb. 19-April 9) Tidal Creek held its first Capital Campaign called "The Story Continues...More Than Walls."  In the fall of 2007, plans for our future church home developed by architects Court Atkins were unveiled on our church's 5th Anniversary.

Our second capital campaign, "Built to Last" began on November 1, 2009 and continues through October 31, 2012.  To date, over $608,000.00 has been pledged, with over $274,000.00 given,

Ground breaking was held on Sunday, February 6th, 2011.  Excitement was in the air as we worshipped together, and then moved to the building site for actual turning of the soil.  Our children released balloons, and the adult present drove stakes into the ground with the name written on it of a lost person we hoped to reach through our new tool, a church building.

Construction is now underway.  The superstructure is up.  Exterior walls are filling in.  Interior walls are appearing.  SO EXCITING!!!  Be sure to check our website regularly for progress reports.  We hope to be in the building late this year!

What does the next chapter hold for Tidal Creek Fellowship? Come and see what God is doing in our midst. We move EAGERLY into the future as we seek to know the UNIQUE journey God has planned for the people of Tidal Creek!!
