Song of Songs 1:1–2:6

FOUR QUALITIES TO DEVELOP AND TO LOOK FOR

 1) GODLY ___________________.

Kiss me and kiss me again, for your love is sweeter than wine.  How fragrant your cologne; your name is like its spreading fragrance.  No wonder all the young women love you!

Song of Solomon 1:2-3 (NLT)

2) GROWING ______________.

Dark am I, yet lovely, daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon.  Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun.  My mother’s sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I had to neglect.

Song of Solomon 1:5-6 (NIV)

3) HIGHER ___________________.

Tell me, my love, where are you leading your flock today?  Where will you rest your sheep at noon?  For why should I wander like a veiled woman among your friends and their flocks?

Song of Solomon 1:7 (NLT)

4) CONSISTENT ________________________.

I liken you, my darling, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariot horses.

Song of Solomon 1:9 (NIV)

How beautiful you are, my darling!  Oh, how beautiful!  Your eyes are doves.  How handsome you are, my beloved!  Oh, how charming!

Song of Solomon 1:15-16 (NIV)

THE RESULT

 1) SHE FEELS _________________.

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.  Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.

Song of Solomon 2:1-2 (NIV)

2) SHE FEELS ________________.

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men.  I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

Song of Solomon 2:3 (NIV)

Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.  His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me. Song of Solomon 2:5-6 (NIV)
